On the Targets & Benchmarks page, you can see the Star targets that you have set for your students, and you can choose to set new targets or view or edit benchmarks for Star test scores. Follow the steps below to view your students' targets.
To set reading practice targets for the quizzes that students take in Accelerated Reader, see Accelerated Reader Targets for Years 4–6 or 7+ (Record Book). To set reading certification targets, see Accelerated Reader Certifications (Record Book).
Who can do this with default user permissions?
School network administrators, school administrators, teachers
School network administrators can view targets for all classes and students at all schools. School administrators can view targets for all classes and students at their schools. Teachers can view targets for their own classes and students. Other staff cannot view targets unless they have been granted more permissions.
-
Use the School and Students drop-down lists to choose which students' targets you would like to see.
- You can only choose a single school or class at a time; if you only have access to a single school or class, you will not need to make a selection.
- To select a specific class, group, or students at the chosen school, use the links below the Students drop-down list. Selecting one of these links will open a corresponding pop-up window; in that window, enter search criteria in the field at the top of the window to find a specific class, group, or students with names that include the criteria you enter (in the "Select Students" pop-up window, school network- and school-level users can also select a year to narrow down the list of students). Once you have searched, select the class, group, or students you want (for students, you can tick the Students box at the top of the list to select all the available choices).
- For students, you can use the Clear All link at the bottom of the drop-down list to untick all the students at once.
Use the tick boxes under the Students drop-down list to choose whether to see targets that are upcoming (the target time period has not started), targets that are in progress, and/or targets that are completed (for which the end date has passed).
At the bottom of the page, each type of target that you have set will be listed. (Since students can only have one target of each type at a time, target types will only be listed once for each subject.)
To see the status of a target type for the students, select the arrow to the left of the target type name.
For each type of target, you will see the subject, the date range (and the marking period name if you chose a marking period), the target, the student's actual performance, and the status of the target.
For targets that are in the future (the time period has not started yet), the status will be Upcoming. If the target has started, but the end date hasn't arrived yet, the status is In Progress. After the end date, the status shows whether the student has achieved the target (Achieved or Not Achieved).
These types of targets may be included:
- Scaled Score Unified: For reading, Scaled Score Unified targets include Star Reading tests. For maths, Scaled Score Unified targets include Star Maths tests.
- SGP - Star Reading or SGP - Star Maths: These are targets for the rate of growth in a student's Star score during the target time period. For more information, see Student Growth Percentile. You will see the students' current Student Growth Percentile.
You can edit a specific student's target by selecting Edit at the end of the row for a student. On the Edit Target page, you can make your changes, and then select Save Targets.
You can also delete a student's target by selecting Delete in the row.
